Security Mandates

In order to comply with Federal and Departmental mandated IT security requirements, ETA/OT has implemented various IT security controls. These changes will not affect the performance and functionality of the system; however, it would require you to take a few simple actions. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us build a more secure system and in meeting Federal IT security mandates.

  • Password setting changes. Password requirements are a minimum of 8 characters including at least 1 numeric character and 1 special character (e.g. tyu*iop9). This is consistent with the Network standards.
  • Password expiration. Your password expires after 180 days. Upon expiration, you will be prompted to create a new password.
  • Password reuse. You will not be able to use the same password again.
  • Password sharing across accounts. Please do not use the same password to log onto the Network and the application. As a general rule, do not recycle the same password on multiple accounts.
  • Account lockout. You will be locked out of the application after 3 failed login attempts. You must contact the System Administrator to reset your account and regain access.
  • Account inactivity. Your account will be disabled after 9 months (270 days) of inactivity. You will need to contact the System Administrator to reestablish your account.
  • New Account requests. All new application users or users with disabled accounts must fill out an Applications Account Request Form   This form is located on the ETA Intranet under ETA Forms Library.
